What are Food Sensitivities? How Can They Cause
Symptoms and Hold My Health Hostage?

Food sensitivities develop when our gut lining becomes "leaky" (more permeable than it should be) and allows incompletely digested protein particles from the foods we eat through to the inside. (How the gut lining gets this way is a whole topic unto itself, and we'll talk about this in the program.)

Our immune systems detects these bits of food protein and becomes alarmed, producing what are called IgG4 antibodies. This is an inflammatory response, and can cause reactions at various sites in the body, including the small and large intestines, skin, kidneys, ears, sinuses, head, lungs, and joints.

Since IgG4 reactions occur several hours or even days later, there may be no obvious association between consuming a food and an adverse reaction. That's why they're called "delayed" or "hidden" food sensitivities. Eating these offending foods can cause a person to hold onto false fat, cause gas, bloating, fatigue, and skin issues, among many other things.

JJ is a member of Mensa, and has a multitude of educational degrees and programs to her credit, including a PhD in Holistic Nutrition from Clayton College of Natural Health, a degree in Exercise Science from UCLA and graduate coursework in 6 different graduate and doctoral programs including Biomechanics from California State University Northridge, Sports Medicine from University of Miami, doctoral level courses in Exercise Physiology, Nutrition and Aging from USC, and Nutrition studies from University of Bridgeport.
